Our homeowner was looking for vertical siding, but not interested in the full board & batten look. We presented her with the option of installing James Hardie’s Shiplap siding from their Aspyre line along with board & batten accenting the top of the wall. The Aspyre line is the premium siding offered by James Hardie, and comes in a 5/8” thickness vs their standard siding that comes in a 5/16” thickness. The Shiplap, along with the other profiles in the Asypre line (V-groove, Square Channel) can be installed vertically, but the Aspyre line only comes in Primed. In the gallery below, you can see the tannish hue that the primed siding comes in.
